I was at Strasburg on Sunday and #90's tender was setting out in front of the shed with #90 herself inside with the smokebox door removed. I'm just wondering what's going on whether its a rebuild or maintenance?

Yes...the Great Western decapod....I do want it kept in good condition....I always look
for it there....
I did the hostler tour about a month ago and the host said it was down for the 1472 inspection. They had it really torn apart in the shop with the cab off and all the jacketing. He said she will be running again in the fall so maybe they are starting to put her back together.
I'm kind of curious how Strasburg is handling the maintenance and operation of steam lately. If I'm not mistaken, they are running two trains and only have two operating steam engines, #475 and #89. I guess the back up plan is to use the diesel if needed?
Hopefully the little Canadian 0-6-0 will be running again soon. I always enjoyed seeing that engine run.
Could the engine you saw be LIRR G5 #39? A 4-6-0 that is at Strasburg being restored To service.

It was definitely #90's tender setting in front of the shop.
I would like to thank Mr. Anderson for his willingness to share some of the "goings on" at the Strasburg Rail Road. It is nice to hear plain and simple explanations of work both in-progress and planned.
A trip to Strasburg is always on the agenda when I make the semi-annual trip to York. A wonder to behold for this Tennessean!
