Streamlined Pacifics - Frisco Firefly

Well, being the Flyer Northern is a UP FEF1 in Frisco clothing, simply repainting a Royal Blue would be a good stand in for the Firefly.

That is a beautiful engine - and appears to be very well done.  However, I don't need that sort of detail, nor am I really interested in an absolute perfect replica.  But your point is well taken - some minor upper boiler extensions that could be generated with a 3D printer, as well as the rear cab extensions.  Wire hand rails could be added too as well as a shiny bell.  In my mind, that would be good enough.  It is not perfect and doesn't need to be. 

 

I am going to see if I can find an old shell and play with it a bit....

To change the RB into the Firefly, I have one word for you....  "BONDO".

I think the Silver Bullet (plastic) shell would give a closer "clone" as the skyline casing on it goes into the nose "bullet" a bit like the prototype, but you'll need pull-mor wheels to be able to haul anything; the plastic boiler is just too light! Should make a snazzy engine.

At first glance l thought that Weaver Santa Fe streamliner would be close, but the better HO photos say no.  Weaver had a lot of those available.
