Haven't run our Santa Fe No 18s in a couple of years so I took them to the club tonight to give them a little time and take some pics.  Everything appeared to be fine with sounds, smoke, lights all normal but she wouldn't budge. When I advanced the throttle (TMCC) using our old Cab 1 the RPS increased and the MARS light started up but no motion in either direction.

Thinking something could be amiss with the old TMCC set, I unplugged the base and started her up with the Z4000. Same response - everything working but no motion.  Have not encountered this with any of our engines before.   I hit '0' and the headlight and smoke reset OK.

Any advice please?

Sam,

Yeah, if run conventionally (you DID have the Command Base turned Off/unplugged when you tried this, didn't you?), the loco should have run. The motherboard is just a FNR e-unit in conventional.

Do the Factory Reset anyway.

Take off the body and push everything together - boards, reachable plugs. You know all this.

The Motor Driver board/portion of the board may have bought the farm. I got a TMCC C&A Pacific years ago - new - and it would do everything - except run. Like your loco. Turned out it had a bad Pittman motor (very odd); Lionel replaced the motor. But, you have 2 motors and even if one is bad the loco should hum and try to move (it wouldn't actually).

(it really is a very nice photo.)
