I haven't seen the usual post yet this weekend, so here's a substitute. It was neat to see a 1940 #233 0-6-0 in operation last week at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, Washington, DC.
I just saw last night a movie called the Picnic with William Holden(1955). Opening scenes Had a UP GP7 arriving in a transfer yard located next to what I think was a feed plant. Through out the movie you could see freight cars being moved back and forth in the back ground. Roads on the freight cars that I could identify were Eire, B&0 (Round Roof) ,UP
Love "Picnic." Got home from work just after the movie was over - next up on TCM was "The Decline of Western Civilization" - just a wee bit different culture.
Caught part of a movie called "The Billion Dollar Hobo" staring Tim Conway. His uncle owns a railroad and he has a chance to inherit the uncles fortune. The beginning of the show he walks into his uncles house that has train collection and mpc era train layout. I will have to go back and watch it again
