A few weeks ago I posted how my sister approached me about a train for her Christmas tree. Her actual question was along the lines of "Can I borrow one of yours" (She lives 800 miles away). Needless to say my actual response to that can't be posted here, so lets just say I said "No"
I asked her want she was looking for and told her about the Lionel Polar Express with the new Lion Chief remote. She had virtually no experience with trains herself and neither did her Husband and has two daughters ages 7 and 10.
She purchased one online about two weeks ago the report from her is as follows:
Track went together easily and train runs great. They were so happy they found an LHS which she didn't know about and bought some more track. Both girls mastered the control in a few minutes and are enjoying the whistle and sound effects. The other night she walked into her husband office and caught him looking at Lionel's website, which as she says "looking at trains beats catching him looking at girls". And then today she wanted to know which PE add-on car to get.
Today I sent him the Big Book of Lionel for a Christmas present and she thought he would enjoy that.
Overall I would say that the set is very successful and the type of product needed to expose new people to the hobby.
