Glad to see the "name" debate is still raging
It's funny to think about how this all started. It was only a simple matter of scale guys not appreciating when someone from the toy crowd would rudely interject in a discussion on prototypical fidelity that it doesn't matter because they're all toys. Somehow this morphed into a multi-thread affair of warring sides and a big shift in sub-forum focuses when all that was needed was a few people to simply learn some manners.
As for the original post, I too misinterpreted it to mean a new sub-forum. Glad that was cleared up. "Mid-rail" or "toy-scale" would pretty much describe my current layout, which is scale track and trains running around mostly Department 56 and tinplate buildings. But when this layout comes down the next one will be planned as strictly hi-rail.
In the end, the main distinctions are still 3-Rail, 2-Rail, Toy and Scale. Elements of these four concepts are mixed and matched to our liking, and we come up with various names to describe our blends. Call it whatever you like and enjoy
