All the talk about the new Lionel ESE Hudson prompted me to pull out my MTH hudson. This is a PS1 version that I upgraded to PS2 with a 3 volt kit. The engine sounds I have there now over emphasize the background sounds, compressor, generator, etc over the chuff volume. I had a similar problem with the MTH L3a Mohawk and MTH produced a modified sound file that gave a louder chuff vs background. Before I try downloading a bunch of sound files I was hoping maybe someone might know of one they could recommend that emphasizes the chuff.

That number doesn't bring up anything. I have tried a few other engines including a Dreyfuss and unstreamlined hudson and they both are better, having a louder chuff than background but anouncements are wrong as expected. The Dreyfuss anounces the 20th Century and the hudson anounces the Iroquois. I am hoping to try a 3v Railking ESE file but experiencing file recognition issues with my Windows XP box.

edit, searching on the number produces nothing but searching Empire State Express produces the 20-3105. Wierd. No I have not tried this as I didn't think there was a 3 V file only a 5 V file. I will try it if I can find it. Thank you.

700E, thank you for the tip. The 3v ESE sound file for the 20-3105 might be one of the best MTH files I have experienced and that includes a couple of new PS3 Hudsons. Overall volume is much higher vs two mentioned above as well as the PS2 upgrade file for this 3016  PS1. Balance between chuff and compressor is much improved and now the whistle has a bit of quill to it along with a nicer tone.

The aftermarket speaker I installed when I first upgraded this engine can now really strut its stuff. I couldn't be more pleased.
