Hello, I was looking for a ideas for maybe some smoke coming out of wreck and bales of hay on a horse flatcar. I had heard of cut up steel wool for the smoke and mini Shredded Wheat for the hay. Anybody have any luck with these or any other ideas please pass them along. Chris ps wife just told me Shredded Wheat only comes in sugar/flavored versions now

1.Cut up some scrap pieces of wood into small blocks. You can buy pre made wooden blocks at a crafts store also.
2.Unravel and cut up some short pieces of hemp type rope to fit the blocks.
3.Spray blocks with 3M spray glue.
4.Drop everything in a clean container and shake.
5.Trim cut rope on blocks with scissors to shape blocks.
6.Super glue several blocks together as a stack.

Steve,
Great idea for hay bales. In the past I've tried to find any thing that I thought would work as hay bales but never thought of making them that way.

For smoke I'd get an MTH smoke unit, they make smoke to order, just don't let anything touch it, they get quite hot.

I wouldn't let steel wool anywhere near my railroad.
