Good Morning Everyone,

I will start out with a model I constructed many years ago. It comes out for the holidays and replaces my light house model on the end table in the family room. The scale is about one inch equals a foot so it would not suit an o gage layout. It is not real prototypical since they did not have finished lumber in this time period or a beagle with wings in the loft.

Happy Holidays to you all.20201220_06205520201220_06212220201220_06213220201220_062138

Hey guys. Well, this is the end of the tour of my layout. The last segment, “North Platte” will be featured in Run 316 of OGR coming out next month and no pictures until the magazine goes into print.

Here we have the “transition area” between my town scene (other side of the wall divider) and the rest of the layout. Featured in this area are some tall Ponderosa pine trees, rockwork, a MTH signal tower, a shed and an old shack. A crossover provides a “reversing section” for the trains.

The rocks and abutments are foam castings, carved 2” thick foam and Sculptamold. Trees are either homemade or from Scenery Express. Figures are Arttista. The ground cover is by Woodland Scenics and vehicles from Diecast Direct.

A welder is busy “fixing” a Speeder in the shed while Henry is sitting outside the tower enjoying a sandwich. Mom and Pop are “rocking away” on their front porch just watching the world roll by.

For you older guys….check out the last picture. A recreation from 1971, “Keep America Beautiful”. The “Chief” up on the rock ledge looking down over the valley. There may even be “a tear in his eye”.

Enjoy the pics and have a great Sunday and a Merry Christmas!

Donald

Great postings and work this week as in every week.

Sorry I have not posted much this year as Sundays are my day of the week to Captain a run session at the TMB train club which is operating under tight COVID protocol controls.

BTW the club just posted a 2 hour virtual open house this morning. Its saved on Facebook under TMB Model Train Club. We are hosting two others which I will publicize here on the Forum before the Jan 2 and Jan 8 sessions

Alan keep it coming and Merry Christmas to you all

96 Hour Bath...

Sort of the opposite of scenery, I stripped the paint off this MTH Hopper.  My last projects I recall needing about 48 hours in the alcohol bath.

I found some 99% Iso at a really good price.  But I needed 96 hours and some heavy toothbrush scrubbing.  After 48 hours the alcohol was so dirty I filtered it through coffee filters and did it for another 48.

Have Fun!

Ron
