Good morning everyone,
I will start off with some progress pictures of the kitbash building I have been constructing. Let's see what you have been working on.

Alan, that is going to be a work of art when done.
Bar...always fantastic scenes, you might tell that little guy that it's not safe to be so close
I'm in the paint, detail and lighting on my project, the elevated track that it will be going behind is mostly done. So far 100% 3D printed.
Alan, Johan, and Ray fantastic, inspiring work. Below is a section house, my first scratch build. I decided to try my hand at styrene.
Andy
Fantastic work fellas. Bar, that guy looks like he's sitting a little too close to the tracks. Better tell him to back up a bit so he doesn't get hit with some wide swinging equipment. ; )
Have Fun!
Ron
Ron. Thanks. That guy really sitting quite near on the tracks but not hit any cars or engines, anyway i must to save him. 👍
Johan
Andy,
You did a real nice job with the construction of that house. That is a great first build using styrene.
Alan and all, amazing and inspiring work. Appreciate all the pictures. Bar GP 73, scenery looks great and car weathering is so realistic.
Tom
Thank you Alan. High praise from the master builder!

Layout looking good.
Steve
Ray, This is an Amazing Viaduct.
IS it suposed to be steel or Concrete when finished? By the looks of it it suggest a concrete covered steel type of structure like the old MaCarter Hwy. in Newark, NJ over the NEC.
Bar, fantastic scenes. Who made the figure? I don’t recognize it.

You are right, very similar.....I designed this to be a type of steel channel and plate arch as you might be able to see better in this close up. It is my own design and will be somewhat similar to one I already have on the lay made many years ago from wood. I was intrigued at how do you make I beams using a 3D printer and this is what I came up with.
Ray,
Your 3-d printing really expands what you can create for your layout. Impressive.
MELGAR
Mel, .....thank you, just finished the painting
Only have back construction of simulated rooms for lighting, windows (curtains and or shades), sidewalk, detailing and some weathering to do.
Yes 3D printing inspires me to do things I only dreamed of doing before
Ray,
Outstanding! The brickwork and bay windows are fantastic. I have long thought that there is a dearth of brick building kits or pieces available in 1:48. Do you have space for it on your layout?
MELGAR
Mel, yes I built it to go behind the elevated track arches I just finished. I took a building that existed and tried to stay close to it's design as I could. It was next to the train station in Springfield Ma. built as The Cooley House in 1849 and then in 1928 became the Hotel Charles. It was taken over by the city of Springfield in 1988 and this section burnt the same year. The trains ran next to it and over Main St at "The Arch" bridge.
Ray,
I have been a frequent train passenger to Springfield since CT Rail began its service from New Haven. Am familiar with the arch bridge and downtown area but avoid the casino...
MELGAR
Very Nice work guys!
Ray,
The building looks great.

Right back at you Alan...thanks
Lee,
You could use some evergreen patterned sheets and add various thickness strips to create the fence fairly easy. Take a look at their catalog.
Lee, you could also build it from scratch if so inclined, lengths of wood, scratch with hacksaw blade, tint with paint washes and stain with ink and alcohol mix, then glue all together as shown
BTW love the yellow and black ford
Thanks Lee, excellent build with the coal tower. And the vehicles are great too.
Andy
Guys Thank you for your help I thought about maybe trying some wooden stir sticks using Ray idea and I also like the evergreen styrene idea also but I really didn’t see anything I’m looking for. BTW Ray I really like that pic of loading up the Ford pickup truck with firewood very neat looking
