Very nice, Alan!

I'm doing ballasting...........I have a lot to do! I don't mind it. I find it very relaxing.

These are my brushes.

I apply it with the large brush. I shape it with the medium one and I fine tune it with the two smaller brushes. I try to do about 15-20" or so whenever I am taking a break from running trains.....it needs to dry for at least 12-24 hrs.

This past week or so, I had the opportunity to do it thrice......

Have a great and safe week, everyone!

@Alan Graziano, I too am working on a lighthouse project.  I'm not scratch building one but trying to dress up a Lemax ceramic lighthouse to make it look a little better if it gets to the layout.  Pictures will come on another Sunday.

@Putnam Division, today's photos reminded me that you had sprayed the vinyl roadbed with Rustoleum Stone Texture spray paint.  At that time I thought it looked so good I didn't think you were going to ballast the track.  That's some base for the ballast.

It's been quite a while since the last time I posted anything. Here's a couple of photos of a blast furnace I'm working on for my Overbeider Iron and Steel Company layout.  It's composed of 11-12 pieces of 2 inch Styrofoam glued together wedding cake style then hand shaped with 100 grit sandpaper.  Kind of rough but I think it's pretty good for a first attempt.  Might just leave it and try to make some kind of top works. Furnace is 25 inches tall and I'll add about another 12 inch piping.  20241031_14141320241031_134453

Got a max height of 36 inches to the upstairs floor joists.

Everything will be painted with acrylics.

My Sunday and Thursday train layout friend, Ms. Zora Maya Keith, worked tirelessly to this morning and finished working her weathering magic on our recently completed model of "J" Tower. The result below speak for themselves in support of the "Z" lady's eye for color and technique. BRAVA, Zora Maya!!!!!!

That looks spectacular Randy and it’s elegant in contrast with the scenery. Cudos to your artist.
