just picked up this little beauty... No sound, no smoke, no lights, but looks and runs great. Before I crack her open, just wondering what mods anyone may have done on one of these. Can't tell if it ever had lights or not, hoping enough room in boiler for DCC board. Looks like plenty of room in the stack for a smoke unit if I go that far. Wonder if there's any room in the tender for a sound board and speaker. Thanks in advance!

If they can stick such magic in a die cast B6 switcher, it ought easily to fit inside this thin-walled model. Handle with care, though, this one is not one of the more robust Sunset offerings.

The only help I could offer is that I installed command and a new smoke unit in their Allegheny. Being brass details, they'll snap off if pressured! I thought I was rough with it until I saw other posts like this. I just soldered the few problem areas I had back together.
I will say the unit runs so much better and smoother that I was amazed.
The larger Sunset models are made of much heavier gauge brass. I have never had problems with solder joints on any of them, but their smaller steam needs a paperweight to avoid being blown away in a breeze. There should be a rule - no locomotives with less than .020 brass structure.
