I just couldnt take it anymore and installed sunshades on the lionel dd35a. It turned out pretty darn good in my opinion looks like factory from fit to finish. Now just buy some shades from lionel and install them really wasnt to hard in fact it was real satisfying and looks great going down the main line now.

Al, That is a definete improvement, you got the shades from lionel or made your own?

I bought them from lionel, I bought the one's from lionel's up sd70ace cab # 8444 paint is a perfect match. Installation is pretty straight forward if your handy its no sweat once you get a sunshade in your hand you'll get how it installs. I also have a strobe for the top of the cab which is getting installed this weekend.
Thanks Al, I have the Fantasy NYC unit. I could always buy what you have and paint to match for sure!

that would work 2,
but i must say it really makes the engine that much nicer looking. before the sunshades it looked like an elephant without ears, humm i guess it was a lionel goof leaving those off??

Actually no.. I don't believe the prototype had them as applied by you.
(notice the rolling type shade)
I looked for a roll up style and tried finding a model that had them and every model I came across had the style i installed so i figured the model already isnt spot on to the prototype. i may have not installed roll up ones but they still are sunshades and its the effect that i'm after and it still looks better then nothing at all in that spot. here is the model i copied after. you gotta admit it still looks better then nothing.
