Go to You tube and type in 3685 Horsepower Steam Locomotive and watch original footage of building a 4=8=4 by MLW in 1928 including all the casting and forging from start to finish of the locomotive. This is a CP loco.

I think you will find that those two CP 4-8-4 locomotives were actually built in their OWN SHOPS, and not MLW.
This video?....They were built at CP's Angus Shops in Montreal. It is great footage for sure.
LOVED IT thanks for your post!
Look at the builders plate just before the end and it will read mlw

So maybe they purchased components from MLW?

If you are talking about the video I posted above I will ask when did you see that? I saw the builders plate they attached at the 10:33 mark which read "Built by the Canadian Pacific Railroad/ Angus Shops Montreal K1a Oct 1928"...these were not built by the Montreal Locomotive Works.
"Pumps to feed a thirsty Boiler" ? Looks like the AIR pumps to me.
one is air pump and other is feedwater pump and also I was assuming that built in montreal was mlw and I was wrong.
There are some other intersting Documentaries online if you go to the "National Film Board of Canada" web site. There is a great one dealing with operations of the CPR in Rogers Pass.
It was shot around 1955 in the middle winter. Excellent black and white film quality and shows how many people were required to ensure safety of its passengers.
