I was able to buy a new superstreets Y switch..now I need 1-2 more...for our layout, but I have a question;

-Am I reading the back of the package right as this will self switch like lionel manual switches when an engine/car runs back thru it from the other side?..Or will I need or want a switch machine of some kind for this?

The one I have has reliably operating like this for a long time.  I've had a no trouble with any vehicles except the Lionel/K-line "vintage truck" vehicle (looks like a model A type cab) - two of mine will sometimes trip up going back through it.  I think the combination of its particularly small wheels, long wheelbase, and marginal weight make it prone to lifting its front wheels at the lightest pressure on them, as from this spring-loaded switch.  it is the only vehicle type that I have had any trouble with on this, and a bit of weight in the truck's box - say 20 pennies covered by a tarp, nicely weights it down so it does not do this.

Good, that's what I thought I read into it as but wasn't sure. Thanks for the input guys!

Alan, if I did, I'd go under table type since theres no provisions for mounting for one above table...just small holes in each side of the actuator arm if someone thought they'd try it. My intent is to try and hunt down two Ys for a point to point of sorts...one down, one to go.

Actually, I have quite a bit of RC airplane bellcranks and double cable still and thought this might be my controls for the two lionel manual switches I have- this wye would follow along the same lines if need be.

I just bought a pair of these K-Line Super Street switches, did not install them yet. From what I can see they do have a spring inside the switch.

However from what I have seen and what I have been able to do with other switches, a DZ-1000 switch machine should be able to be used with these, just adjust the throw spacing correctly.

I installed a DZ-1000 switch machine on an old 027 switch, otherwise it was going to the trash can, it was a flea market buy in a large group, solenoid was taken off before I got it. Cut the plastic down with a dremel tool and put the DZ-1000 switch machine on it, best improvement for an 027 switch that I have seen. The switch looks bad but works great now, has excellent clearance for most freight cars.
