I know the other HS comes with the diesel kit, but you can order the side mount one alone, I'd like to be able to order the diesel style HS alone.

I am talking PS-2 3V.  Many of the ready to run set engine (steam), seen it in the PCC cars and some switchers.  Also some Diesel that just use a single sheet and screw through top.  G

GRJ:  Spoke to MTH today at York.  The heat sink you seek is used on the slave boards.  They did not have any here.  One yhing I did find is that MTH has 2/3 AA battery packs, much smaller than the full sized.  I found a box of them rummaging through the bins.

It would be great if MTH had a single parts manual.

I thought you were coming to York.

FWIW:  I find the 2/3AA batteries have no problem keeping the sounds running after poweroff.  I guess MTH uses full-size AA to allow more shelf time before they're too dead to function.  From now on, when I do upgrades, that's the battery of choice.  I put them in the SW-1500 5- to 3-volt upgrade, and the 1954 Lionel #624 upgrade to DCS.

As a test, I put in the AAA pack and did an immediate startup and then killed the track power 10 times in a row.  They were still keeping the sounds running to the end of the shutdown sequence.  I suspect there is PLENTY of reserve in any of these battery packs.

I think Stan calculated that the BCR has about 1/100 of the energy storage of the AA pack, and since a BCR works fine, it's hard to imagine any of these battery packs having issues.

I finally received today the Varta200mAH batteries I had ordered from Alibaba in China, too late to install in the locos I was working on since I had used 2/3 AA's.  The Varta batteries are quite tiny and are flat, so they could probably be glued under a car if need be or squeezed in somewhere.  I had not heard of Stan's calculation before, but if a standard AA is 700 mAH, these 200 mAH should be more than adequate.

If anyone is interested, the battery is Varta # 2/200H, is 2.4 volts, is made in Germany and is NiMH.  I paid $9.49 each, shipping from Singapore included  Comes with an MTH style plug, of wrong gender to fit into an MTH harness.
