"Using the same truck models on boxcars, are Atlas and Weaver direct swaps with each other?"

I don't know about the latest productions but historically Weaver and Atlas used a different truck design. Weaver trucks have a more scale like bolster design while Atlas trucks use the common 3 rail type of bolster. Putting Weaver trucks on Atlas cars required a new body bolster on the models I've built.....DaveB

I have installed Weaver die-cast trucks on "old" Atlas boxcars a few times recently.  If you don't want to order the plugs from Petersen, an easy work-around is to cut your own plugs from round plastic rod, glue them in place, then drill pilot holes for self-tapping screws to mount the trucks.  It takes very little time and effort, and works perfectly!

I have not tried to install Atlas trucks on Weaver cars.

Thanks all for the input. Those plugs seem great, as does the dowel.

A project for another friend, he wants to install the new Atlas trucks on his Weaver car.
