Using the same truck models on boxcars, are Atlas and Weaver direct swaps with each other?

Weaver trucks will work with Atlas rolling stock. If your installing weaver trucks on the old Atlas/Rocco, you will need to order from Peterson Supply the plugs that will allow you to secure the trucks. The Atlas trucks will cause the Weavers to sit high.

I don't know about the latest productions but historically Weaver and Atlas used a different truck design. Weaver trucks have a more scale like bolster design while Atlas trucks use the common 3 rail type of bolster. Putting Weaver trucks on Atlas cars required a new body bolster on the models I've built.....DaveB
There was an article in O Scale News years ago regarding these plugs. Until I read this thread I didn't know they were still available. In the article, the modeler set the plugs in place then milled off the bottom to get the correct height. Petersen shows them as in stock for .60/pair.
I have not tried to install Atlas trucks on Weaver cars.
Another work-around for the plugs is to fill the existing hole in the cars' frame with epoxy. After it dries, drill a pilot hole for the new trucks. I did this on several older Atlas cars I picked up.

Thanks all for the input. Those plugs seem great, as does the dowel.
A project for another friend, he wants to install the new Atlas trucks on his Weaver car.
Question
Whats wrong with the Weaver trucks on there now? New Atlas sit too high.

Don't know, it is his idea. Our Weaver rolling stock has Weaver trucks.
