Lots of them out there Bill. They are neat little engines. The PW versions are very loud from what I've seen and read.

I have one. Slow and LOUD! I looked into a can motor replacement but there is no drop in option I am aware of.

That Bill is a #41 U.S. Army switcher from 1955 / 57 bought on ebay for like 28 bucks seller said inop, rebuilt e-unit runs good, Is a little loud like Bob has said, I did add a led light, as they come with out. fun little switcher I see alot on ebay the plow and Ballast Tamper cost a bit more for a good complete switcher. Mark

I see the prior comments about how loud this switcher is. Does it, perchance, use the same motor as found in the "whistling" tenders? The motor in the 243W tender I got with my Adriatic is quite loud and "rattly" and overwhelms the whistle at lower track voltages.
This is the inside of the #41 powerhouse and a tender Check your email sent you a parts list for your tender. I'd start with a good cleaning on your tender maybe new brush springs and brush and take a look at your relay sometimes 70 years of dirt could be sticking or binding. Have fun Mark
