Well, looks like I’m still a day late and a lot of dollars short!!! Being a Brooklyn boy, I had to pick up one of the BEDT switchers. It is a rather remarkable and affordable little engine - it is diecast, so it is pretty heavy, has smoke and sound, and, since it is a LionChief Plus 2.0, it can run using my CAB 2. I like it so much, I pre-ordered one of the New Haven versions they announced in the 2023 Vol. 2 catalog. The one pic I could find on my iPad shows it hauling an LIRR boxcar to a warehouse at the old Brooklyn Navy Yard.

@MELGAR - That is a neat little engine and thanks for showing it off. I have been debating on getting one for a while. The Pennsy had 27 B8a 0-6-0T shifters, all converted from traditional B8 0-6-0s (the B8 was simpler and lighter than their "famous" B6). The Pennsy's look quite a bit different but this one in PRR paint would be a good substitute.

Ron,
It's a nicely detailed model. This one had a problem with the gauge of the driver wheels and derailed on the curved path of my Atlas O-54 switches. I narrowed the gauge slightly and its been OK since then. Lionel told me that they only guarantee their models on fastrack and did not help.

I, too, will salute Melgar for posting photos and a video of his LC+ B.E.D.T. steam switcher. I have one as well, and often run it with my light weight Lionel Bronx Zoo giraffe cars:
It is a good smoker and has sounds as cute as its appearance. However, as was mentioned on another thread when this steam switcher first became available, it has a small motor so it is wise not to strain it. So, I run it pulling light weight cars, like the giraffe cars, and not more than a few cars.
It was also economical, maybe $225 to $250.
Glad I have it, and I highly recommend it.

Mel, that wasn't a great answer you received from Lionel. I guess they were blaming on the track.

Nice choice, Paul, running it with the L.I. boxcar.
