I am back on a MPC kick. This comes and goes for me. Sometimes it seems like a more fun hobby subset than the constant striving of the new and more scale current offerings

 

Here is a much maligned MPC Rock Island plastic switcher from my own youth shifting a 5200 series billboard reefer. The 5200 series of kind of preweathered cars is one of my favorite Lionel Car series.

My 8601 has some old bailing wire repairs. The drawbar as well as the part that holds the front of the rods from stabbing into the ballast are both now made of wire. I have both this as well as one of the other plastic MPC small steamers the 8300. I have always foundthis interesting because for such a short list of used casts Lionel moved around the domes and remade the cab between casts.

 You look down a side rod. I did switch out the stack and boiler front too to black versions as you can see when compared to yours. Cool.
