Here is an RS3 working some industrial tracks in southern New England. The engine is actually my first "reintroduction" to O scale engine but it is wearing a new shell from a Hurricane  Sandy damaged parts engine. The engine was from a Toys R Us set I bought in 1999 for $99. The set was a construction themed set with an RS3 and 3 gondolas. It pretty amazing that they could keep the price so low on a starter quality U.S. made set compared to todays Chinese made sets. The MTH shell fits pretty well on the Lionel engine I was a bit concerned that it wouldn't but it is one of my favorite paint schemes.

Hello All,

Before I even start,  I am letting everyone know that I am also posting these photos on the real trains forum so I don't get scolded by the forum police/experts for posting here.

 Last Saturday,  our club(The Pittsburgh Independent Hi Railers) participated in a layout tour event that was sponsored by the Ligonier Valley RR Museum as a fund raiser.  We set up our modular layout at Huber Hall in Latrobe, Pa and we were part of the tour that you could visit.  There were several vendors there also,  and one of them was a 90 year old man who spent his working career as a photographer for several newspapers in the SW Pa area.  He was selling copies of original negatives/photos of many varied subjects including military, industrial, architectural, local history, automotive, railroading/trains, transportation, etc.  He literally had probably thousands of 8x10 photo copies on thick paper for sale.  He told me that about 50% of the photos were taken by him during his lifetime.  Anyway,  I bought these three photos of the Westinghouse East Pittsburgh plant from the 1970's,  two of which show the plant switcher in Bicentennial paint(unfortunately black and white photos),  and the other photo of a PC well car with a large thrust bearing load.  The one photo of the switcher in the receiving area certainly has a lot of activity happening with the Schnabel type car,  the two lowboy tractor trailers and the third long flatcar with another load that I can't tell what it is.  Anyway, enjoy

Not sure if my car mover qualifies as a switcher but it is hard at work spotting these tank cars to the loading rack.
