Yay! Starting the 5th year of SWSat!

Per Usual we are off to a great start this week. Always love a visit to Shark Bay with BAR GP7 #63. Melgar now that you have your 3 rail layout in print maybe some narrow gauge can be integrated into it.

Here are some pics of my Dapol A1A Terrier Fenchurch on the NYSME 2rail Oscale layout and some almost matching vintage 1930’s/40’s cast bronze  electric motors that are another members.

Have a great weekend. I can’t wait to see what you guys post.

Andy: Thanks. I love BAR, but also the third one S.B.R. engine just arrival, need only some paint work, decals & weathering before ready. Maybe we can see the "Chum" after couple weeks.

@lee drennen - I love that little switcher, great C&O cars too!

@dorfj2 - great new switcher!  Is it the LC+ one?  now I want one!

@BAR GP7 #63 - as usual, I'm in awe looking at your Cape Shark pictures, the weathering on that sugar car is incredible!

@FRENCHTRAINS - I agree 100%, Weaver made some really nice steam engines, every time I see one at a show I'm tempted to grab it.  They carry their value forever too, there's a B&O Weaver switcher (brass) on eBay right now for around $500 and it will probably sell at that price.

I'll be offline a bit, everyone have a great day...Rich

Thank you Rich it means a lot coming from you I enjoy running this Switcher every week so I can post it here.

While I'm always in awe of the modeling that some do with their trains and layouts, for me, Lionel and 3 rails has always meant toy trains. That said, I still enjoy railfanning, watching real trains and getting ideas that I can adapt.

For all the S2's that K-Line made, they never did a New Haven one. Then I saw a photo here on the forum of a K-Line S2 that someone had custom painted into another New Haven scheme. So that inspired me to do one of my own.

The NH is one of those fun roads like the Lehigh Valley, in that they had so many variations of paint schemes. Plus as a youngster, my dad had stepped up the layout a notch with a New Haven Lionel F3 set in 1959. Hence the reason for this engine number.

Mention was made above about Weaver's superb 0-6-0 switcher.  I have one and it's excellent.  I converted it to PS2.  But, I have to replace the traction tires and I find these are very narrow.  Anyone know of any sources?  I hate trying to slit down a wider tire.

The MTH tire for a scale-sized 0-6-0 steam engine is type DE-0023. Diameter 22.1 mm for wheel diameter 27 to 30 mm. Tire width 3.5 mm. Would it work for you?

As closely as I could measure, the MTH DE-0023 tire width is 1/8 (one-eighth) inch - about 3.2 mm. The unstretched inside diameter I measured is about 13/16 inch (0.8175 inch) - about 20.6 mm.

How to get all that electronic stuff, and wiring in there.  Rich Yoder GE 44 tonner with ERR upgrade to TMCC control and sound.  Electro couplers added.  One of the smaller switchers.

Black wire left is the antenna. A small coil of this wire was position on the walkway.

Bob,

If interested, there were a few OGR topics over the years about using a tube of silicone to lay down a thin strip of silicone while slowly rotating the wheel.
