Switcher Saturday - Mark II !! 11/02/2019

Hello again gang - it's time once again for everyone's favorite weekly thread - Switcher Saturday - Mark II !

This is the place for a weekly gathering of those who love little engines that do big things.  

For today's kick off, here's a photo taken by reddit user u/Tankman652.  This is a MP15 switcher for the Lake State Railway, with the ship Tregurtha in the background. Railroad roster site here.  Tregurtha is currently regarded as the Queen of the Lakes, i.e. longest ship in service on the Great Lakes.

So with this cool shot for a kick off - show us what you got!!

As usual, there's a few simple rules for Switcher Saturday:

1.This threads welcome switchers of all sizes and sources, such as 12" to the foot, live steam, HONGZ and of course 3 rail O gauge.  If it's related to switchers (model switchers, prototypes, critters, switching yards, switching layouts) - we want to see it! Videos, Pics, Stories (true or fictional), poems, whatever! 

2. If you miss the post on Saturday? NO BIG DEAL, just keep posting pictures of your favorites until the next #SwitcherSaturday. If you missed last weekend's post - check it out here.

3. Keep it friendly - we want this to be fun. (we haven't had any real problems with grumpy trolls, I'd like to keep it that way)

4. In regards to compliance with the letter and spirit of the OGR tos, this post is in the photo album section as the subject is switchers and small motive power.  Three rail O is the common medium but anything from prototype through Hongz, grand scales, live steam etc is welcome, as long you took the photo yourself or have permission to post it.  Feel free to post a link to something cool.

 NJT GP10 #7000 was the shop switcher at the old CNJ shops at Elizabeth Port, NJ Nov.86'. NJT #7000 was ex-Conrail GP10, ex-PC GP9 and ex-Pennsy GP9. The sand tower base was a CNJ Mikado steam engine boiler. This whole scene has since been obliterated.

Last week I promised I would post pictures of our recent vacation, which included a trip on the Great Smoky Mountain Railway in Bryson City, North Carolina.  We took the Nantahala Gorge Excursion which was pulled by steam locomotive 1702.  We were fortunate to get tickets as we found out the trip was sold out before we left the station.  A crew member told us that three cars had been added to the train to accommodate the anticipated crowd due to the fall foliage being in full color.

We were seated in the last car of the train, which consisted of 25 cars that day.

The sky was overcast this day and rain was in the forecast.  Even with non-ideal conditions, the scenery in the gorge was breathtaking.

The return trip was pulled by a pair pf Geeps.  As we were in the car next to the locomotives we could hear the diesel engines pull down as we ascended grades and rounded curves.

Upon our return to Bryson City, we observed GP30 2467 preparing to pull the Tuckasegee River Excursion.  Shortly after we arrived back at the station it began to rain...and rain...and rain...

We left Bryson City and drove through the Smoky Mountains.  Despite the steady rain, we were able to see an abundance of beautiful foliage.

Looking good everybody. 

With the awful weather on Thursday,  trick or treating was pushed back to tonight in my neighborhood.   So I spent the afternoon cleaning up the garage and setting up the Halloween layout.   Just to stay on topic, here's one of my little switchers posing for the camera
