I need to swap out a board set that isn't working. It's in a 20-3038-1 steamer. I forgot to ask G if the tach assembly needs to be changed in the boiler? Is it the same? I should open the boiler up anyways and check it out.

Tach is the same with 5V and 3V.
I have the same 20-3038 Atlantic. Everything is still working ok. What's the best option to replace the battery with?
The MTH green battery! Thanks Marty. I sent the boards to G to test.
Thanks for the quick response. Is that a permanent fix or do the green batteries eventually die?
All batteries eventually die, the green ones should last 5-6 years.
The stock white battery tests good still. I have no way to know it's history though. the engine looks new.

Thanks. Based on date of mfg of this engine, would a BCR be a better bet?

When I get an engine with the the white battery, it hits the trash, I don't bother to try and "test" it. Those are over ten years old, and if they haven't failed yet, they're about to!
Agreed. Those white batteries are very old. Throw them away. Would you trust your car with a 12 year old battery? I know guys use the BCR item. I run all batteries.
