I recently had the pleasure of attending one of Hudson River rail excursions trips From Penn Station in New York City up to Albany and back. Basically they attach two classic New York Central cars to the back of a regularly scheduled Amtrak Empire service train. The cars are the number 43 Tavern lounge, a Budd built car from 1947, and the famous Hickory Creek observation. Here are a few photos, followed by a video of my humble attempts at a recreation on my layout!

Very nice @JamesRx. Do you have any interior photos?

This trip is on my bucket list.

My wife and I did the trip last November in the Hickory Creek. You can't beat it for scenery, nostalgia and a great trip. In Hickory Creek the cooked in the car lunch and the included beer and wine made for a good time.

I've always thought that was the most beautiful of all observation cars and would have loved to have taken that trip - great photos. So, when my postwar version of Third Rail's 20 Century Limited arrived, I had to put together a video of it. If you want to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJtSpq5fH5o
Peter, I watch a LOT of O Gauge videos on YouTube, and I can honestly say yours is the best I’ve seen! Amazing. Next best thing to riding the Century itself, if only that were possible.
