What is this? http://www.rypn.org/forums/vie....php?f=1&t=37291 Someone heard something about steam trips to areas that haven't seen mainline steam since 1988. I know for a fact that the rail lines in my area last saw steam on public excursions on the mainlines which were Conrail then, now NS in 1988. 765 was one of them. BM&R 2102 was the other. I'm crossing my fingers 765 crosses the Ohio/PA state line next year. The 765 schedule probably won't be out until February at the earliest, though. Kelly Lynch replied to the person You aren't far off, Doc. That must mean that that info is partly true, there will be excursions on rare mileage that hasn't had steam yet in the new NS program next year. Meaning new excursion routes next year.

2015 will see 611 returned to steam, most likely 2926 having a hydro test and intial fireup. Hopefully the UP will get on the ball and turn things around and get something operable.

As mentioned, 765 is supposed to have a busy schedule, along with maybe 261 making a couple of trips. Not to mention the other smaller operable steamers. Maybe the west coast duo (4449 and 700) can get out and stretch their legs on a fan trip.

Those 1988 New Jersey trips were, without question, the absolute WORST trips we ever ran. The planning was terrible (I learned a valuable lesson from that  ), the host organization was clueless and we had to sue them to get paid. I joke about it now by saying I spent a year in New Jersey one week.

As for what's in store for the 765 in 2015, when NS announces the schedule, so will we. Until then, there's nothing to say.
