Tank cars

Those new Atlas 25.5K tank cars are awesome!  I have some myself.  A reason to go to O scale just for those alone .  These tank cars with ADM reporting marks would be used to haul various types of refined vegetable oil, like corn or soybean oil.  Soil bean oil refining is rather unique in that you need to a solvent (Hexane) to extract the oil from the bean.  ADM might also use them to haul tallow (beef rendering - used for making various kinds of soaps and food shortening), hence the jacketing and steam piping connections.

Atlas’ model of the Trinity 25,500 gal, insulated, general-purpose design. This was introduced in 1986 and production continues today. There are at least 13,000 presently in service. Typical commodities include vegetable oil, tallow, styrene, benzene, asphalt, biodiesel, acrylates, and numerous other chemicals.

Hi Alan,

I'm good with my ADM 25.5K tank cars.  I currently have two of the 4 road numbers and that is good enough for my needs at the moment but thanks for the offer.  For the chemical tank cars, you will want something like these.  They come up on eBay from time-to-time.
