Good Morning,

I've pulled some of my MTH RailKing locos out of storage after a 14 year hiatus from O Scale.  I have a MTH RK 0-8-0 switcher that I installed a TAS EOB board w/ RS 4 and Puff & Chuff back in 2008.  Distant memory tells me I was never quite happy with the slow speed cruise on this loco.

I've started from scratch reprograming the EOB and I've come to a point in the manual that instructs how to turn the cruise Off but there is  no instruction for turning cruise On.

Is there a way to ensure cruise is on or a programing sequence to turn it on?

Many Thanks,

Ward

That makes sense.  The section in the manual about turning off cruise was for doing lash ups, which I read need 32 step mode.

So a follow up question is this:

Does ERR Cruise Commander run more stable cruise at slow speed than EOB?   I put Cruise Commander Ms in a K Line RS3 and Lionel Mikado Jr and they both creep along keeping a very stable speed.  The 0-8-0 w/ EOB doesn't compare.

I have several EOB engines and a few ERR cruise engines.  If the tac tape on the flywheel is done correctly.  EOB is far better at slow speed crawls than ERR.  Don’t get me wrong ERR great but not as good say a MTH engine with DCS, or a Lionel Legacy engine, or EOB.  Problem with EOB is they are out of production, they are getting old and when they fail and all electronics will fail sooner or later and you will need to upgrade to ERR, Legacy, or DCS.

That's the kind of slow speed crawl I'm looking for.  My two ERR equipped locos will do that.  My 0-8-0 EOB will do that on a straight but as soon as it enters a curve I need to increase throttle to keep it moving. So of course, it goes through the straight faster.

I'll upgrade to ERR eventually but first I need to sell off my large quantity of G scale to raise some funds. Might be sooner if I find I can reuse my RS 4 & power boards with the Cruise Commander.
