How did it work out that the 2015 convention is taking place following the 2014 convention in the neighboring Atlantic Division. I know that TCA National awards the convention each year and they do not want neighboring divisions to hold conventions one year after another. One of the METCA members told me that is very upset about this for at least one reason being that having the other division running the convention is having some of their tours going to places that he felt METCA would have wanted to go to. I feel that there are other good places to have tours going to that the other division is not going to. What do you think about all of this? Personally I am looking forward to both the 2014 and 2015 Conventions.

This did not happen by design.  When the dates were first picked, Atlantic Division was to hold the 2014 Convention in Valley Forge. After they were in the works their hotel opted to throw them over for a larger event. TCA National is responsible for securing the hotel and the only other venue in their price range/requirements was Cherry Hill. The proximity was discussed with Atlantic and METCA chairs; the decision was made to go ahead. The alternative would have pushed METCA out 5 - 10 years. The tour chairman can answer better than I; but it is my understanding that there are no significant problems in overlapping tours.

Perhaps this person that is unhappy could redirect their energy to help make the METCA convention a success. We have plenty of open billets in every category you can imagine.

The next time I run in to him I will inform him to what you said. I agree with you about lots of tour ideas to check out. One of newer favorites is the Walkway Over The Hudson. I am friendly with the New York City Transit supervisor who runs the historical subway car trips for the transit museum and other groups as well. I could put you in touch with him.
