They lack the glitz and glamour of high speed mainlines and the colossal size of a yard, but Team Tracks and Transload facilities are of vital importance to railroads and shippers alike.

These special sidings can handle just about any kind of railcar equipment. Not being tied to a specific shipper makes the modeling possibilities endless.

Team Track Tuesday
is for Everyone!

Whether you have an elaborately detailed museum quality layout, a simple oval of track with a siding, or just a few pieces of track and a box car - we want to see pictures from your team track.

Abbrial - great looking post!!  Johan - great shot of your team track ... I love the realism!!

Since fall as arrived ( at least in my neck of the woods ) it's time to harvest the apples .... and get them to market.  On a team track, deep within the Mountain Division, farmers are brining truck loads of their apple crops packed in crates and barrels.  The FSJR has set out a freshly painted WhiteHouse Apple reffer to haul those apples to market.  So .... how do ya like dem apples?   Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!  IMG_7561fullsizeoutput_565IMG_7570IMG_7557

1.) TV: In an episode of The Walton's, the father, John Walton, Sr., has made a deal with the owner of an apple orchard.  The gentleman has ordered a box car, but when he couldn't hire a crew, the Walton bunch pick the trees bare to the limb.  The bummer: You don't get to see the box car spotted on a team track waiting for the truck load of apples to be delivered.  YUCK!

2.) Real Railroading on Virtual Railfan's cam: Watching the Strasburg Rail Road* switch the team track at E. Strasburg, PA with their x-NYC SW-8.  If you're lucky you might get to see the crew make a run to the NS (x-PRR) interchange at Paradise, and return to E. Strasburg, with the pick up left for them by NS.  As a bonus you might also witness Amtrak making their run over NS to and/or from Philadelphia.  I recently encountered two Amtrak trains passing each other at Paradise.

Item: It was just like watching the Hevenly Express make it's run with final destination: PARADISE!

* Check out the Strasburg R R website and see steam and diesel working side by side in 2020.  WOW!

Patrick. Thank you very much.

TRBB - Nice mention of the Walton episode.   I guess my post today could be interpreted as ( what the late Paul Harvey used to say ) " And now you know the rest of the story."   Btw - I'm visiting Stasburg this Friday.  Looking forward to it!

Thirteen hoppers and the fence along Harvey Wendall's pasture - destroyed. Most of the mess has been cleared but the mainline is still closed.

No word on the cause, but some folks suspect Harvey might be involved. For the last few weeks, he's been been yacking about a how expensive a new fence might be.

Wreckage will be held at the Team Track until the line is repaired.

I tuned in to the virtual rail fan camera in FT Madison, IA.  It has been one train after another, (BNSF) and one AMtrak heading in both directions.  These trains are loaded with cargo containers. If this is any indication of how the economy is doing... then things are looking up'.... A couple of screen shots.

Trumptrain: You are indeed one lucky man!  Wish I could join you for a ride on the Strasburg Rail Road this Friday.  Which trip will you make?  I'll check out the Virtual Railfan video.  A pity you can't see the passengers when they board the train.

How about posting a video of your layout featuring background music played on your "Nathan"......?

TRBB -  I'm booked for the 2pm Friday train to Paradise.   My lady and I will be riding first class in the parlor car.

One of my "to do list" projects is to figure to create a layout video using music which I've recorded as background music.  Perhaps I will get around to this over the upcoming holiday season.  For the immediate future my cup runneth over with work related projects begging my immediate attention. Your suggestion certainly gives me mojo to do the layout/my music video project... thanks!
