Hello all. I saw this test setup advertised in a recent auction and was curious about it because I've never seen one before. Anyone have any information or knowledge? Many thanks! -Stro

I have a lot of that stuff, but I don't have the fancy track with embedded rollers, and I can't see that I'd want to allocate the space for it. I have a bunch of rollers and some sections of track. When I need a roller stand, I drop a piece of track on the table and put rollers on it.
I've seen the one with the brown inserts before, but don't know who made the set.
I'd go for lots of rollers and pick up the rest as needed unless I was opening a repair business and wanted to impress some folks.
Making my own large setup for looks I'd copy an old Lionel PW stand. Either way it would get its own table. They eat up too much bench space for me.
But, the PW Lionel test stands were very cool to look at. There were no rollers on Gramps. I don't think they were used yet back then.
Hi Adriatic-
Thanks for letting me know you've seen one before. I was wondering if it might be custom or manufactured.
It looks very 1980s or 90s. I can't tell if it's both O- and S-Gauge or not. It looks manufactured but I've never seen one before and thought it interesting. It looks like it has a built-in cradle too.
Thanks!

Be prepared to pay some bills for it. It appears to be one of those portable designs. Great for a modular club.
It sold last weekend for $370 if I remember right. I wasn't interested in buying it. Again, I'm just curious about who may have made it and if it was mass produced (more or less).
I like the history and "evolution" of servicing tools through the decades. There have been some pretty ingenious tools people have invented to service locomotives. I had not seen this one before and thought maybe someone custom built it.
As far as my needs go, I have Lionel service station equipment and other odd bits I use for my servicing which are easy to move about my workbench and don't take up a lot of space.
Cheers!
