Yesterday I saw an ad on Craigslist for "Lionel track for free" so I responded and told the guy I'd pick it up today. When I got there, he had 3 large boxes filled with O-scale track, switches (at least 8) & crossover pieces and another box had pre-war track and pre-war switches. A lot of the track is in good condition and was stored in the house, not in the garage or basement. The only stuff with some rust is the pre-war box. He also threw in 2 transformers, some green incline pieces?, and a trestle.
I was amazed that he wanted to give it away for free and also that he never mentioned the other items on craigslist. He said that he had given his trains away to nephews and they opted to buy fast-track so he just wanted to get this stuff out of his house and didn't want to take the time to post it all on ebay. I told him it was all going to a good home and that he made my month!

Good grab! Put it to use. Have fun.
Nice score! Many useful pieces.
It is amazing what you can find on craigslist.
Nice find
I like that bridge!!!! Been looking for one myself.....
Congratulations! It pays to keep the eyes open.
Nice indeed. I too like the bridge. Enjoy.
That's great to hear! Nice find!

Those inclines look like old Dorfan which went with a bridge, I have the Standard Gauge version.
I seem to be always a bit too late with train deals on Craigslist. I did however get a great deal on an old Brunswick Phonograph (paid less than the reproducer is worth, let alone the whole thing).
I bought some trains off Craigslist too. But I definitely do NOT recommend selling anything there. Why? Because every time I do, I end up with months of emails trying to get me to visit some girls porn site. Even after removing an add I get them for months after. What happens is someone will pose as an interested buyer and ask a question then disappear. That person gets your email address if you reply back. Then you can't rid of the filth.

Nice PICK, Enjoy.
nice score! ditto on the bridge.

Unfortunately Craigslist has become flooded with wannabe spammers. Often they will email you something like "still available?" just to get you to reply so they can copy your email address. If I list something to sell on Craigslist I give a phone number only, no email address and no email replies, for local dealings only. I also use a "disposable" email address for any dealings with a higher risk of spammer problems.
Used Craigslist this year for first time, and I was getting those replys like oldrob. Now I know they are phising for info, and will no longer use email. Thanks oldrob

DK81 Tomorrow is the Wayne train show. It is at the Wayne Pal building.
Just got bask from Wayne. Did you make it?
Great story! It's great that the guy listing it wanted to make sure someone had fun with it instead of just throwing it in the garabage or recycling bin.
