Thank you to roger and espcially to dorcie and her instagram page for inspiring me to finnaly get the fascia on my layout. I have been wanting to add a finnished look to my layout and install a painted fascia for some time. When I saw one of your installed coustomer layouts on your instagram post. Thats when I knew the look my layout needed. I just loved the fascia color and the look so much I had to have this look for my small modest layout. With phone and screenshot in hand I went to menards and got the lumber and matching paint. I finnaly got the first coat on side one tonight. Still have to do some work to side two. I must say the before and after look is quite amazing. Thanks for the inspration. Maybe some day I can afford to let roger add on to my layout, but untill then I will keep working on finnishing this layout. Still some scenery yet to be done. Enjoy the before and after photos. I think my layout is finnaly comming together. Next to hide the stuff underneath the layout. Screenshot_20170728-22012920170729_22290420170729_222743

A quick inexpensive cover for the under layout area is to go back to a home improvement store and get a roll of landscape matting material.  It's the stuff you put down before mulching to keep the weeds down.  Cut it to width or simply fold it over and staple gun it in place. The clutter disappears and a finished look shows up instantly. The flat black color of the matting takes your eyes off the lower area so you and anyone else are looking where the action is, not the distraction.

I, too, would also recommend using some sort of draping material (there are plenty of options available) to mask the under-layout storage area while still making it available for retrieving and adding items. This (especially if it is a plain and dark material) will greatly help to direct a viewer's eyes up to the layout itself. The fascia looks great, but now consider that additional add-on to give your layout a truly "finished" look.
