A fun story for a cold Saturday morning. Yesterday was Elizabeth's semi-annual checkup with her Oncologist and her doctor asked politely what she had been up to since her last visit. The first thing out of her mouth was she had made her first trip to the York Meet. I was shocked when her doctor knew all about this meet and just how much he loved trains (the real ones and our O-Gauge models). He told us he was on the last excursion ride of the 611 and knew all about her restoration and the restoration of the Big Boy. He doesn't have a current layout, but plans to get back into our hobby.

I had a lot of fun bringing him up to speed with just how advanced our O-Gauge equipment really is. I told him all about the new Vision Line Big Boy that sparked his interest. The normal 1/2 hour appointment lasted an hour. It goes to show you, when you least expect it, we have many train friends out there, some we never knew existed before.

Well, on my last visit to one of my Docs, we talked a bit about trains, but when I told him that I fell off a ladder, he gave some really good advice.  "There isn't anything at the top of that ladder, or on your roof, that a twenty-four year old can't do for you.  Hire one, and continue to enjoy your trains."  True story.  Bob S.

Had a knee replacement 10/1/14 visited the surgeon for a follow up 8 weeks later during our conversation model Railroading was mentioned. Well the visit was longer than usual he's in a smaller scale due to  limited space but the conversation is the same, interesting and informative. Model Railroaders and Harley Davidson riders are alike we are addicted to our stress relieving passion.

Love your story, Brian.  Whenever I have a discussion with someone that is complaining that there are no other modelers in their area, I think about things like this.  Train lovers are everywhere, but so many of them are not outgoing about it and never find out that their friends, neighbors, doctors also love trains.  If you are not too shy to talk about it, you may be amazed at how many new train friends you will have.
