Thanks for the update video. Unfortunately, nothing to get excited about here. The market is flooded with those cookie cutter cars. More duplication.

If Atlas would ditch those ugly incorrect Superior doors and modernize those cars, they would have a winner.

I’d say, remove the ladders and walks, lower the cars, and change the doors. Also offer a combination door version with a narrow plug door.

SIRT, The 40' PS1 tooling  that we bought from MTH and produced is actually a prototypical 8’ Pullman Standard Door Box Car. When we announced these it was published and clearly stated that we were doing the cars as MTH had originally produced them. That said  we will be making improvements to various models as we move forward with the design of these great products. Thanks for your interest!

So that means they come with the Kadee mounting pads?  How about the spacers?

Actually, this is the only SAL I don't have. Weaver offered one with plastic trucks & couplers a long time ago.

This paint scheme was also offered years ago by someone using the "old" Atlas 40' boxcar tooling (now part of the Trainman line)...also with plastic trucks and couplers.  They are tough to find.

I upgraded it to die-cast T&C's.    Maybe it's time for Atlas to offer this car again!

Atlas - Good to know that some updates will be considered.

Hope to also see colored keyed brake wheels unlike everything black from MTH. When MTH updated these cars to separate grab irons and other production / assembly changes, it made them much better than the originals. They generally also built many of these with R.B. trucks which was also incorrect on many of the 40' cars. Brown axles would be a nice update too!
