On Saturday and Sunday February 01 and 02, 2014, The Great Train Expo(*) returns to the St. Charles Convention Center, St Charles, Missouri. This is the same show that many of the Mid-America-3-Railers, and other RR enthusiasts attended in February 2012, and had a great time; not only at the show, but also at lunch (Texas Roadhouse) and layout visits.

(*) Not to be confused with the World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour, which was held in downtown St Louis in January 2013.

It is an easy 30 miles (32 minutes) from the St Charles Convention Center to my house, and if any of you plan to attend the show, please consider stopping by to see my Hidden Pass Junction RR layout. Judy and I will be going to the show Saturday morning, will have lunch around noon at the nearby Texas Roadhouse (you are welcome to join us), and then head home.

You are welcome to visit us Friday, January 31, afternoon or evening, or Saturday anytime after the show. Just send me an email so we can coordinate, and for directions to my house.

Hope to see you in a couple of months!

Alex

Sounds great, guys! I'll be emailing all of you soon.

Dick,

I have been to this show at the St Charles Convention Center several times, and IMHO, I believe it is the best around here. The Convention Center offers a lot of room, and even though they always have had a lot of vendors, it has not been cramped, as happens at other shows. True, there is a lot of HO, but in the past this particular show has had plenty of O-Gauge 3-rail stuff. Several hobby shops have been there, and some, such as the Switch Stand (mostly MTH), have had their rolling stock and buildings at 20% to 30% off. Even if you don't make it to the show, you are welcome to visit anyway.

Thx!

Alex

Alex:

I commend your generosity to open up your home and layout to the Forum members. In my opinion this is the best way to really get to know one another, face to face.

Obviously the show is a little far for us to make, but your fabulous layout is on our "must see list". It will be our pleasure to meet you and your wife.

Alex,

Thanks for posting this info. I looked completely over this event. My bad. Louanna and I will be out of state on those dates, sorry we will miss this and Judy's cookin'

If OK with you two we would like to come up sometime this spring.

For those of you that are attending this show....forget the show and go see Alex's layout. If you are that close to this magnificent layout and couple, you NEED to see both of them.

Thanks again Alex, and we will be talking to you soon.
