The "Ferrocarril Central Andino," which translates to "The Railway of The Central Andes," is one of the most impressive railroad in the world. The railroad runs between Lima, Peru, and Cerro de Pasco, Peru, and reaches an altitude of 15,850 feet above sea level. The railroad uses five C30-7's and two C39-8's which work up a maximum gradient of 7.69%. There is always a risk going uphill or downhill. Going uphill, there is a risk of stalling. Going downhill, there is a risk of burning out the brakes and derailing. At one point, a train lost it's braking capabilities and carrened downhill at a speed of 130 km/h before crashing into a tunnel.
