Does anyone know if Lionel, MTH or Williams made a replica
of the Hooterville Cannon Ball?
Petticoat Junction

That would be a fun train village to build from the Petticoat Junction show. Would make for a great small layout.
I think the closest engine in O Gauge on the market today would be the MTH 4-6-0
There was a Petticoat Junction set made in HO by Mantua. It would be nice if MTH made one and the buildings.
Frankly, I'm surprised a proper model of Sierra #3 hasn't been made except for one in the 1980's by Arbor Models in HO. (The Mantua/Tyco model is mildly oversized.)
With all the TV and movie work #3's done, it could be lettered for almost any railroad and get away with it.

They would need a custom tender load of cut up old cross ties to fuel the Cannonball. Also a Christmas light accessory kit would be cool too.
Any of the Generals MTH or Lionel would look close the only thing missing is the 2 trailing truck all have the 4-4- part of it ( your pic shows MTH 4-6 one MTH also did a 4-4 like Lionel either way they all would be great candidates to use.
The issue with the MTH loco is it's so HUGE!!!
A Rail King SCALE Sierra #3 would be a good investment. A Petticoat loco, a Back to the Future loco or many other tie ins for licensing. I can see a BTTF set with a rolling DeLorean to push around to 88 mph!!!
But for a toy size Junction the MTH 4-6-0 would be an easy conversion.
Here's the theme song on a Youtube video I came across.
I'll humming the song all day now

General Fans will see some new Licensed products in the future.

Just so long as we leave out the part where the DeLorean goes back to the future and the train wrecks into the canyon... :-)

But think of all the repeat sales!!!!!
Great Scott, you are going to need a 1.21 gigawatt power supply. (How many PH-180's would that be?)
I like the idea of a Hooterville Cannonball too. Would be an interesting set and nice theme for a layout.

That's only if you want to see the DeLorean disappear.
And for the record, I've seen a 2 Megawatt power supply in a VLF transmitter I worked on in the Navy. I can't imagine something over 500 times larger...
Gentlemen,
Got to admit I would like to have a P2/P3 version or even a Legacy version, of the Petticoat Loco and Tender, some nice rolling stock with the girls on it also! Would definitely be a great addition to my Christmas layout! As Andy points out the Logged Tender and the Christmas Light kit would be just fantastic!

General vs Sierra #3 (a.k.a. Petticoat Junction loco.)
Not even close...

I also find it odd that there aren't more models of that Sierra locomotive, since it must be imprinted on so many memories through all the movies and TV shows it's been in. If Rivarossi could produce a standard, spindly-looking 4-4-0s in the 70s in the shape of the V&T Genoa and Reno, I would have thought of Sierra #3 as a decent prototype for MTH or Lionel. That big firebox space between the axles is a lot of motor room these days.
Rusty,
They would definitely need to make it right for me to want it! The girls voices and all as part of the announcements, would be way cool! World famous uncle in the cab, his voice also, as part of the announcements.

The coach and combine have already been done imported in brass.
But, Walthers did these as kits that continue to float around swap meets and shows, and on eBay. The new owners of Keil-line might even be interested in producing all of the detail parts for building these as well.
Petticoat Junction? Yeah, I remember that show. But it wasn't the locomotive I was staring at.

I don't think Doc Brown could imagine that either, the way he was acting when he determined 1.21 gigawatts was needed.

MTH is offering both of these buildings in the 2015 RTR catalog so maybe a locomotive is not far behind...

Not to get sidetracked but I saw a documentary on the restoration of number 3 a year or so ago and it was very good. Can't remember what network. I believe it was pbs.

Sierra # 3 is arguably the most well-known steam locomotive in the world, considering how many people have seen it over the years in film and TV.
I had the HO scale version of it as a kid, I wonder how many of them were made back in the day?
I have only been to old Sierra roundhouse at Jamestown, CA once, in 2005. Sadly, # 3 was taken apart in prep for a rebuild at the time but still had cab lettering left over from "Back to the Future 3" filming.
I found some decent videos of this loco:

I fully plan to get back there in the next year or two to finally see her under steam...

You sure it's the girls' *voices* you're after?
Also, a full size wooden "prop" copy of Rio Grand Southern 4-6-0 #20(built for "A ticket to Tomahawk") subbed for #3 on the sound stage.

Larry Jensen's book on movie railroads talks about this and several other movie subjects, even though it's slightly outdated now:
Tyco made an HO version of it. The real train from the Sierra Railroad in California was the #3 and used in long shots and the open and close of the show. Studio shots were filmed using an engine built by 20th Century Fox in 1950 for a movie called "A Ticket to Tomahawk". It's now at a museum in Colorado. The shorty cars were real and available as kits from Walthers. You can still buy them every so often on E-bay. They are O scale. Don
I recall a couple of episodes of Petticoat Junction where the mean brass from the railroad wanted to shut down the branch. If I recall it seemed to have images of the Santa Fe as the mother road. I used to watch the show just to see the scenes that involved the locomotive.....yes, I was a railroad geek!..... even then.

Sure it was just those scenes? Just messing with ya kamerade.
Wasn't the same Sierra loco used in "the adventures of Casey Jones" starring Alan Hale Junior?
Ah, Casey Jones! I remember that show! Wonder if it's available on DVD?
IMDB.com says Casey Jones is not available. I checked Amazon, too. Here is the file on the show. 32 episodes.
And Rio Grande Southern 4-6-0 No. 20 (A Ticket to Tomahawk) is being restored to operating condition at Strasburg as time allows. Each time I see her on the Noon Shop Tour she looks better.
Besides No. 20 running on the Silverton Branch, A Ticket to Tomahawk also featured Marilyn Monroe among saloon dancers, an early uncredited role.
A Christmas Train with carolers is another option. Watch for a moving shadow of Santa's team and sleigh on a water tower as the train departs as well as the reflection of the train in a trackside pool.
I had no idea how much this locomotive was used so much in t.v. shows and movies. And I did not know she was the locomotive in back to the future 3.She did not have her balloon smoke stack and that what through me off.I have one question and that is.In Petticoat Junction what kind of whistle did she use?Being a cartoonist and a kid who watched a lot of cartoons.I known hanna barbra used in their cartoons in the 1980.I think mth comes pretty near with its railking DR&W locomotive.
