FWRHS is aiming to make The Joliet Rocket more than just a train ride, though the standards of a photo runby and open vestibules remain. We're also offering a Railfan Event pass to admit people to the private event area at LaSalle Street Station.

Tickets go on sale tonight at 6PM: GET YOUR TICKETS HERE!

Presales to members and select customers have been verigh.

Jim Wrinn calls it the "non-excursion excursion.".

Picked up 6 tickets today for Coach 47 Saturday PM. I am not sure if 46 or 47 would be better but I went for 47. Bringing my 23 month old along and he will be very excited.

Excited to see steam return to downtown Joliet. I owe a drink or two to whomever came up with this excursion idea.

My brother and I bought tickets for Sunday. My Dad used to take us to Joliet Union Station when we were kids in the 1970s to watch the trains go by.My entire family went to the Fort Wayne Train Museum on Father's Day in 2011 to ride the 765.My Dad passed away in 2014.Riding the 765 out of the Joliet Union Station on Father's Day will be a great way to remember him.

Wish I were going. Sounds like a fun time. A little far for me (Brooklyn) for an hour and a few minutes behind steam. Though it is going a few blocks from where I briefly lived in Blue Island 20 years ago. Sometimes took Metra Rock Island or Electric to downtown for work. Wonder if Western Avenue might be a good shooting spot, as train crosses a bridge over the Cal Sag.

Somewhere on the hard drive is a shot from a roomette on the Texas Eagle a few years ago, crossing a diamond at Joliet. How far is that from the old charm school? A mile or two?

Add: found the pic. Not worth the trouble, but here it is.
