Found this in a old RR magazine. This would make a great O Gauge aluminum car on any road. It was real and rebuilt for the She'd Aquarium. It had room for six workers with Pullman berths, kitchen, bathroom and storage. In 1957 it was converted to an aquarium car from a lounge car. It was retired in 1970. Don

This is something that I never saw before. Thanks for sharing.

That's cool, would be neat to read the article. We just took my son to the Shedd aquarium a couple weekends ago for his 3rd birthday...
I believe that the last ( only remaining) aquarium car is the Badger at the Mid-Continent Railway Museum in North Freedom, WI. They spent almost $1,000,000 having it restored a few years ago. One of the many fine railway restoration projects done in the US. https://www.midcontinent.org/e...n-fish-commission-2/

Don, I've procrastinated with doing their heavyweight aquarium car. I like it because of more details.

The streamlined Nautilus aquarium car is at the Monticello Railway Museum:

Need baffles so the fish don't get seasick. GREAT
What did they use it for?

To carry marine examples from coastal locations to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.
Rusty
Rusty, they sent it down to Florida to meet a salt water fish collecting boat. The fish were loaded and the car went back to Shedd Aquarium. Don
As a long time Shedd Aquarium guy and fish keeper, I like it!
