Our 5 grandchildren, ages 5 - 12, were here for 3 days. They wanted to play with the trains. With the Z-4000, and the MRC Dual, 4 of them were at the controls at all times. 3 consists were running, all with loud Railsounds. The Menards store with the Menards jungle played over and over and over. They continually pushed the horn, bell and reverse buttons on the transformers. My son and I tried to maintain order and crowd control. We only had one derailment, but numerous near misses. They are now gone. Peace and tranquility have returned. I guess that this is what it is all about.

It certainly is. When my grandchildren are at the layout (only two of them) I'm always pleased and terrorized at the same time. But any upset/damage is worth it to see them enjoying the trains.

Scotie,
You are 100% correct and you will never forget those times whether you were terror stricken or not.

Congrats on what sounds like a successful visit and keeping everybody and everything intact.
We are experiencing a different type of childhood terror at our house......our 15 year old is getting her learner's permit.........never realized how thrilling and terrifying sitting in the passenger seat could be!
That's definitely what it's all about.

And neither will they forget, I can just about guarantee it.
And after a few days, you will start to miss all those distractions and look forward to their next visit.
Glad you survived. No PILE UPs is a good thing. They will remember this trip for a long time.
The screams of glee and joy from the little ones are priceless, but the fear and apprehension that accompany it sometimes can be difficult to handle.
Diok S,
Sounds wonderful, glad you had a great time with the grandchildren, hope you took some memorable pictures! Let us see a few of them when you can.

One of the many wonderful things about grandkids is that when your nerves get jangled and shot, they can go home and you can regain your sanity. But be sure to enjoy these days as they never last long enough and when they are gone...they are gone. I often joke that the only reason we have kids is so that we will have grandkids.
