The LCCA Has Successful "Florida Special" Train Show (near Tampa FL) March 2-3,2013
The Lionel Collectors Club of America (LCCA) had a great event during the "Florida Special " public train show on Saturday March 2, 2013 and Sunday March 3,2012 at the Manatee Convention Center in Palmetto FL. LCCA Club Secretary Harry Hampson, his wife Bridget and local member Bob Eberley all represented the club during this two day show. The LCCA greeted 40+ LCCA members and family members during this show. Each member received an exclusive LCCA special event pin and uncut sheet of LCCA special events billboard signs. This is all part of LCCA President Dennis DeVito's plan to reach out and touch 2200 members this year. There were over 200 tables with many operating layouts of all gauges. The LCCA donated door prizes to lucky LCCA members in attendance.
Over 60 local Boy Scouts were on site to earn their Railroading Merit Badge during a clinic sponsored by LCCA member Bob Eberley's Real Rail Club. The LCCA donated a Lionel Boy Scout set to the local Boy Scouts of America group. The highlight of the day was when local Boy Scout, Nicolos Palmieria won the drawing and received his official Lionel Boy scout train set. He truly was ecstatic with his prize.
Thank you to all of the members and guests who stopped by the LCCA table and met with LCCA Club Secretary Harry Hampson and his wife Bridget. We welcome all of the new members who joined our club during this event. I encourage you to get involved and take an active role in future LCCA special events and activities. Remember, every article you read in our award winning publication, The Lion Roars, The Lion Cub and website is written by a fellow member just like you.
"Thank you" Bridget, Harry Hampson and Bob Eberley for introducing the club and the magic of Lionel trains to the thousands of visitors. We appreciate Steve Haber for inviting the LCCA to be part of this fun filled event. Everyone had a great time and experienced a full day of F.U.N with the LCCA and Lionel trains. I believe this will be the first of many upcoming LCCA Special Events in the Florida area.
