The Newest Boxcar from Menards Rides Like a Feather! (03/29/15)

You're going to spoil us, Mark....  A new product every 3-4 days?   ;-)  And it's not even Christmas season!

My excuse that I'm buying a birthday present for myself is wearing a bit thin with your Menards buildings and now rolling stock; especially since my b'day is in DECEMBER.

And just how am I supposed to save up for York? At the rate you guys are putting things out I'll never save up a decent amount!

The Feather boxcars are probably my favorites.

Do these have to be ordered or will they be in the stores

The Menards boxcar is a tad larger than the K-line 6464 size boxcars. Could be the Postwar AMT / KMT molds. It would be interesting which manufacture Menards is using over in China.

I wish I would have picked up a few dozen of the PRR cars when they ran them a few years back... 

Next month is my birthday. So what are you offering special for the month of April?

I'm pretty sure they are the same as Williams cars, but at a great price.  That WP looks real nice!

It looks like we have your email address in the system but you weren’t on a mailing list. Possibly what happened is you signed up but didn’t click the train email checkbox. I made sure to get you onto the train list but let me know if you have any further troubles.

Mark, I have a question about my Menards Hobby Shop lighting, when the "Menards Trains and Lionel Trains" signs are lighted and flashing the interior and above the side door lights also brighten and dim. The store owner is about the commit suicide with the constant dimming and brightening of the lights. I think the interior lights and flashing sign lights are incorrectly wired. I have not taken the building out of it's plastic  cover so don't know if I can access the wiring to see if something is incorrectly wired.

That is $16.25 per boxcar on that deal. Apparently Menards has been able to find a manufacture in China that can build O Gauge boxcars with diecast trucks and a metal frame for a price from the 70's.

And the low cost is passed onto us, making Model Railroading again, affordable, and bring in new people into our hobby.

We have tested numerous samples and this issue hasn’t come up yet. I’m just curious if you have a 4.5 volt power source. Applying the wrong amperage may cause the lights to flicker or burn out.

I am using a 5.8 volt DC "wallwart" that has been reduced to 4.5 volts with a resistor. The  wallwart works fine with my Comaradie Bar and Milwaukee Road engine house.

How bout a couple of Menards scale cars. I dont run O27 because they look weird with the rest of my stuff but id buy some Menards scale cars if they were there

It sounds like there was an error in our email system. We had an algorithm entered incorrectly for people to be taken off the email list if they hadn’t opened the last 6 emails. It’s hard to open an email when you haven't gotten one yet! Sorry about that!

I cannot resist.  Herewith the Lionel version with Walthers decals.  What a nice paint scheme!

 

 

You could not touch one of these for sixteen bucks, though.

 

Its been a many a decades since Lionel had $16.00 boxcars.

I'm just slightly confused or unsure here... On the numbering are they just different in one set, or is each car produced numbered differently? if say you bought 10 sets of 8 would you have 80 different numbers?

Each boxcar is individually numbered. If you bought 10 sets or 1 by itself, they would all have unique numbers.

Dagnabbit, Menard's!  Now there's more I'm going to be ordering!

 

Going to place an order for a few of these in a day or so!  They'll look perfect behind my steam engines!

It's anybody's guess at this point w/o the word from Mark himself, but the speculation that Kader(Williams) is making these special runs was shot down by a Bachmann insider here on the forum.

 

I'm not too sure Menard's would want to give up the sourcing - they have tapped in to a niche market with some unique, desirable, and creative O Gauge products which has obviously taken a considerable effort alone when you take into account the size of their entire Brick & Mortar and Online operation and product line(s).
