Don, the visible differences between an F-3 and an F-7 are, the F-3 had much higher roof fans, as the red Santa Fe. Also, the F-3's grillwork (on the sides) resembles chickenwire.
You can pretty much see the different grill work in those pics.

 NJOGauge I have several of the old K-Line Aluminum Tank cars that were custom painted by a shop in the Ottowa area. I posted then above , one is a black CN and the other is an Ontairo Northland in dark blue with yellow.
