Unfortunately, Mr. Harold "Kip" Hagen, Superintendent of Steamtown National Historic Site, passed on suddenly this past Saturday. Mr. Hagen was a tremendous asset to Steamtown and a really good guy who was sincerely committed to the cause of railroad preservation. The railroading community surely has suffered some tremendous losses recently. I shall keep Mr. Hagen and his family in my prayers.

VERY bad news!!! The passing of Mr. Hagen will be devastating for the Steamtown National Historic Site, as he was, somehow, able to work through the ongoing government bureaucracy and funding, and still get many things done.
What huge loss!!!!!
Sad news indeed. Condolences to Mr. Hagen's friends and family.
Mr. Hagen certainly had a challenge to balance both the Nat. Park Svc's Fed'l bureaucracy as well as some of the local politics of Lackawanna County and the City of Scranton.
