I had a post a while back about 17 locos on the front end and where the might be heading and for what purpose. When the 4014 left West Chicago on its first run in that direction, my wife and I went up there to see it, staying with my son and family in Waukegan. We headed west to catch it in motion on its way to the next stop. The first picture is of an east bound train with the 17 locos up front, moving about 10mph and the train did have a mid train helper. At this spot was a RR crossing and a lot of folks were on our side of the tracks, not the best because the sun was in front of us. But, a lot of people were on the other side of the tracks...and then came this freight. It took as long to clear the crossing as the 4014 and consist took to clear it, and every one of those folks on the other side of the crossing got deprived a look and photo opportunity for the 4014.
