That is very cool George. Part of my York trip is to always stop by the RRMOP before heading out to York. When I make the trip back, I pop in the shop, get some stuff and usually go next door to Strasburg and shoot some photos. It is great to see that this historic engine is going out to the museum. I wonder if the Rocket will be going in the new projected buildings that they plan to build out there. Back in 2021 I was told by an employee that they intended to build the roundhouse(10 year project) up, and a connecting building to that by the rails that connect to Strasburg. It will be interesting for us to see how things change over the years. I do hope that they do a cosmetic restoration on 6755 M1 outside, or get it inside. It will also be interesting to see the progress on L1 #520. In 2021 they had done quite a bit of work on it, cab had been removed to be restored.

You mean the L1s, not the I1, right?  The only surviving Decapod is in New York, as far as I know.

I despair of those Pennsy locomotives getting under cover any time soon.  That roundhouse has been promised for a lot longer than 10 years.  And a long time ago, they removed the asbestos jackets from the K4, M1, L1 and B6sb and then left them outside.  Some of them had been cosmetically restored.  This was a step backwards.

Yes George, mistyped as usual. As far as I know from what I was told, the 10 year roundhouse project was a go. I believe that whatever they needed, has been approved or greenlit from what the employee was saying. The accompanying building was something that I want to say the guy said 15+ years

Bill, it is a great place to see. I remember going out there way back in the mid 1970's. Going back out there in 2016 was interesting to say the least. I have an extraordinary memory and could remember quite a bit of things that were different from them to now. One of the funny things was the confusion of Stroudsburg to Strasburg. Before getting back there in 2016 I kept saying Stroudsburg until passing through there to visit my oldest brother up by Scranton. I talked with him about the name and was corrected.

Out of everything in the museum itself, I think my two favorites are E6 Atlantic #460, the Lindbergh Special and M1 6755. #460 was missing in 2018 because they were doing a cosmetic repair, they could not do a full repair/rework because of a crack in the frame. Just seeing it shine in 2019 really brought a sparkle to my eye. It would have been great if that crack wasn't there.

My memories from a kid still spark, and I can see me and my brother Steve in awe of these iron beasts, wanting to see if there were keys to start them up. I think one of the steel passenger cars used to be open at some point back then, I think I stumbled down the steps, but can't quite remember. Maybe that got erased from all the great railroad memories.

I was talking with my brother last night about the Rocket. He doesn't remember it. If I showed him a picture, maybe would spark a memory. I told him I didn't really remember it either, though I should. Having spent too much time at the pendulum, we didn't get to see everything when we were there as kids. I guess when I see it in person, maybe it will bring further memories.
