For background, we shall look at my revision of the Esch Cummins Act: https://ogrforum.com/...22#76326080075100722
Now, we shall look at the railroads that expand alphabetically. Starting with the ATSF, which gets the following lines.
Chicago Great Western; Kansas City, Mexico & Orient; Louisiana & Arkansas; Meridian & Bigbee; Midland Valley; Minneapolis, Northfield & Southern; Missouri & North Arkansas; St. Louis-San Francisco
These are my ideas for new trains, as well as locomotives from these lines they could keep.
New Trains
The Missouri Chief (St. Louis- Tulsa- Amarillo- Belen, NM- Flagstaff- Los Angeles)
The San Francisco Chief (Chicago- Kansas City- Dodge City- La Junta- Albuquerque- Flagstaff- Oakland)
The Dixie Chief (Birmingham- Memphis- Springfield- Tulsa- Amarillo- Belen, NM- Flagstaff- Los Angeles)
The Frisco Chief (St. Louis- Tulsa- Oklahoma City- Ft. Worth- Houston)
The Twin Cities Chief (Twin Cities- Des Moines- Kansas City- La Junta- Albuquerque- Flagstaff- Los Angeles)
The Texas Chief (Chicago- Kansas City- Wichita- Oklahoma City- Ft. Worth- Houston)
The Nebraska Chief (Chicago- Omaha)
The Colorado Chief (Chicago- Kansas City- Dodge City- La Junta- Denver)
The El Paso Chief (Chicago- Kansas City- Dodge City- La Junta- Albuquerque- El Paso)
The Apache Chief (Denver- La Junta- Albuquerque- El Paso)
The Arizona Chief (Chicago- Kansas City- Dodge City- La Junta- Albuquerque- Phoenix)
The Panhandle Chief (Chicago- Kansas City- Wichita- Amarillo- Belen, NM- Flagstaff- Los Angeles)
Locomotives
My idea is that the ATSF would acquire all diesels from the railroads it got. It would also standardize its entire steam locomotive fleet. Though some bigger steam engines, like the Frisco 4-8-2s and 4-8-4s would continue operating under the ATSF until they were obsolete. Additionally, experiments with biofuel using various steam engines would take place in the 60s.
