I agree, Paul, that you have gotten off to a good start with your scenery.

I recommend that you consider getting a publication entitled Realistic Model Railroad Scenery by Dave Frary. That publication, made in the 1980s, helped me a lot. There may be other more recent publications that other Forum members may recommend to you.

I find that the more scenery I do, the better I get at it, and the more I like it. Now, it's my favorite component of our multi-faceted  hobby.

The good news about model railroad scenery is that you can do it well even if you have little skill and talent as an artist. You can also do your scenery over and over until you are happy with it. For instance, when I painted my backdrop, the first thing I did was read about backdrops in a model railroad publication, probably the Dave Frary book. Then, I must have repainted portions of my backdrop over 20 times until I was satisfied. I find acrylic paints are very pleasant to use. Arnold
