Christmas 2020 layout, prewar 1938 Lionel OO set. I believe it has honorary tinplate status due to its prewar only production and 3 rail track(2 rail was also offered). Enjoy!
NYC Fan, last month I gave my sister a Red Comet set I found a few months ago. It is the same as your Dad's. My brother and I had trains, but my younger sister just had 3 beat up old red tin passenger cars (I still have them). She was delighted (of course) and its even possible she liked the Hallmark Red Comet Christmas Tree ornament just as much. Great memories!
Thanks for the memory of a fully decorated tree.
I remember that the lead tinsel would fall down and short out the track. Later, when the cellophane tinsel came out, it was plastic and did not short out the trains.
